Vorm Vrij launches new LUTUM M Series clay 3D printers

Vorm Vrij, one of the most established manufacturers of pneumatic extrusion systems for traditional clay ceramics, just introduced the new LUTUM M series, which includes the LUTUM 4 and LUTUM 5 Mini clay Printers.

The 4M 3D printer was developed to meet the requirements of clay enthusiasts and also fits in a potters studio. It features a large enough print volume for the average user while incorporating Vorm Vrij’s efficient eco extruder bundle for demanding extrusion capabilities. It can also be upgraded possibilities for more power, speed or workflow integration is needed.
The 5M 3D Ceramics Printer is the little brother of LUTUM 5, with similar features as the larger printer but in a smaller form factor and with a single extruder. It is meant for a reliable pottery production unit or as a tool within a laboratory environment.
Vorm Vrij’s goal has always been to expand the possibilities of crafting with clay. The LUTUM 4M is built for this. The system promises to uphold Vorm Vrij’s quality standards while also significantly lowering the cost of construction. For example, the system is equipped with a Nylon eco extruder, which is very durable and can print a wide range of clay types with different viscosities, handling materials to a density of 25% at 0.2 mm.

The LUTUM 5M follows the same approach—high quality and reduced costs—however, compared to the 4 series, it uses stringet drive motors, stronger bronze driver gear and wider belts on the axis.
The machine is equipped with the v10 316 Stainless Steel extruder, also very durable and, like its nylon counterpart, is able to print a wide range of clay types with different viscosities and handle materials to a density of 25% at 0.2mm. In addition, because of the use of high-pressure seals, there is no need to clean the extruder in day to day use. Users can simply place the tip in water and start printing the next day, or week.
Both LUTUM M systems are available for purchase as of July 2021, however, only 50 units of the LUTUM 4M and 10 units of the LUTUM 5M systems are available initially.
