Stratasys Will Highlight Efficiencies of 3D Printed Composite Tooling at Upcoming JEC World

This year’s JEC World (14-16th March), the leading event for the composite materials industry, will see the leading additive manufacturing and 3D printing solutions provider, Stratasys, demonstrate 3D printing’s capability to produce high-temperature composite tooling cost-effectively and in a fraction of the time of traditional manufacturing methods. The company will also unveil its newly-launched F370 3D Printer for the very first time in Europe.

Visitors to Stratasys’ stand (Hall 6, U32) will discover how the company’s 3D printing technology is already being deployed across a range of industry sectors, including aerospace and automotive, where manufacturers are enjoying reductions in cost and time of between 75% to 90% in the production of key tooling, such as molds and mandrels. These durable, yet lightweight items are used in a host of application areas, including commercial aircraft structures, as well as parts for satellites, UAVs and other vehicles.

JEC will also offer the opportunity to hear about Stratasys’ latest developments in direct printing of composites to create highly robust and lightweight structures.

“Whether the application requires reusable layup mold tooling or sacrificial tooling for complex, trapped-tool geometries, our 3D printing technologies simplify the fabrication of composite parts while providing unparalleled design freedom. We look forward to discussing the benefits of our solutions for the specific applications of JEC visitors and explaining exactly how high temperature, cost effective tools can be produced in days, compared to the weeks or even months required for traditional tooling.” Tim Schniepp, Head of Tooling Solutions at Stratasys.

Keynote presentation – 16th March, 11:00, Hall 5 E39 “Agora”
As part of JEC’s conference programme, Alissa Wild, Manufacturing Tooling Leader at Stratasys, will deliver an insightful and informative presentation on ‘The Benefit of 3D Printing for Tooling: Composite Tooling and Manufacturing Aids’, which will illustrate the wide-ranging advantages for manufacturers when deploying the technology for these applications.

Carbon Fiber Design Contest
The 5th Carbon Fiber Design Contest comes to this year’s JEC World in the Better Living Innovation Planet in Hall 5. This challenge invites creatives, designers and architects to submit original office product concepts. The winning designs will be produced on the Stratasys J750, which, as the world’s only 3D printer with the capabilities to combine full color, multi-material parts in a single 3D print, accelerates product conception, design and delivery.
