Shapeways and ZVerse partner to integrate 3D design solutions

3D printing service Shapeways and 3D software developer ZVerse, Inc. have entered into a partnership through which Shapeways will offer its customers access to ZVerse’s CAD as a Service (CADaaS) platform to improve 3D file design and optimization workflows.
ZVerse’s platform for Shapeways consists of an AI-driven design software which has been custom-branded for the 3D printing service’s existing business processes. In addition to giving its customers access to ZVerse’s design tools, Shapeways will also provide access to the software company’s broad network of 3D designers.
From here on out, Shapeways customers will be able to engage with a designer of their choice through the portal in order to create a new 3D file, optimize an existing 3D file for production, or convert a 3D file into another format—all within the framework of Shapeways’ online service.

“Our CADaaS platform bridges the 3D design gap, which in turn opens the sales pipeline for Shapeways and others in on-demand manufacturing,” commented John Carrington, Founder and CEO of ZVerse. “Typically, ODMs reject up to 40 percent of job requests because customers don’t have the manufacturable 3D files they need. Instead, we turn this gap into business by taking care of their customers who don’t have files or need them optimized, and deliver them back through a fast and seamless experience.”
As one of the leading 3D printing service bureaus in the world, Shapeways offers its clients an extensive selection when it comes to 3D printing: including over 50 material and finishing options fit for medical, education, consumer products, robotics and countless other applications. The integration of ZVerse’s CADaaS portal will further enable Shapeways clients to improve or realize their 3D models, creating a more comprehensive service.
“Our partnership with ZVerse allows us to take our customer relationships end-to-end by fully integrating 3D design services into our platform, ensuring our prospective customers remain within our ecosystem,” added Greg Kress, CEO of Shapeways. “ZVerse’s AI-enabled platform expedites the design process by automating many aspects of the file creation workflow. We ship more than 180,000 3D printed products per month, and ZVerse enables us to scale to our customer’s needs.”
