Rösler AM Solutions and HP developing automated post-processing equipment for MJF

Last week, surface finishing expert Rösler consolidated its additive manufacturing activities under its new AM Solutions brand name. In the wake of that announcement, AM Solutions has announced a cooperation agreement with HP focused on the development of automated post-processing equipment for 3D printed parts. The companies will leverage their respective technological expertise to offer a scalable 3D printing post-processing workflow for industrial applications. As part of the cooperation agreement, AM Solutions has also acquired HP’s new Jet Fusion 5200 series 3D printing solution for its 3D printing service division.
Signed last week at Formnext, the cooperation agreement sees Rösler’s new AM Solutions brand—which comprises the 3D post processing and 3D printing services divisions—working closely with HP to improve post-processing solutions for the latter’s Multi Jet Fusion technology. The aim of the partnership is to introduce an automated and sophisticated solution that will enable MFJ users to produce parts with a higher quality surface finish with more efficiency.

“HP is an extremely valuable partner within our AM network,” said Stephan Rösler, CEO of Rösler Oberflächentechnik GmbH. “The cooperation allows us to further improve our automated post processing solutions and adapt them specifically to the Multi Jet Fusion technology from HP.”
AM Solutions’ 3D post processing division specializes in the treatment and finishing of 3D printed components. The division’ capabilities include unpacking, removal of support structures, removal of residual powder, surface cleaning, smoothing, radiusing of shard edges, polishing and dyeing 3D printed parts. The various post-processing stages are each carried out by an automated system, which enables users to achieve a high degree of repeatability and higher productivity while reducing costs.
“This partnership is an important example of HPs’ commitment to collaborating with leaders in the industrial ecosystem to drive the digital transformation of manufacturing,” said Ramon Pastor, Interim Head of HP 3D Printing & Digital Manufacturing. “The Rösler group offers comprehensive know-how in equipment building and surface finishing which is critical to production. We look forward to working together to broaden the opportunity for and accelerate mass production of applications across vertical industries.”
