PostProcess Technologies (PPT) has announced a new partnership with CUBRC, a not-for-profit scientific corporation specializing in machine learning research, development, testing and systems integration. PPT will utilize its new partner’s Heartwood Analytics suite to advance its own software platforms. The goal of the partnership is to improve PPT’s software offering for the automation and digitization of AM post-processing.
Presently, PPT offers some of the only software solutions for AM post-processing based on a data science approach. The platforms, the patent-pending AUTOMAT3D and CONNECT3D, enable users to improve post-processing steps by automating the workflow and thus removing the guesswork that comes with the manual removing of supports and surface finishing.
CUBRC’s Heartwood Analytics is a machine learning software suite based on technologies from the corporation’s Data Science and Information Fusion (DSIF) Group. The suite builds on work originally done for the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community which was aimed at combining disparate data sources in real time, providing data alignment, processing, deduplication and ingestion, as well as performing predictive analysis, optimization and rule-based alerting.
Integrating Heartwood Analytics into PPT’s software portfolio will enable the latter to offer more efficiently generated insights from its proprietary dataset, which will result in better performance and predictability within scalable, agile and extensible platforms.
“We are very excited about bringing CUBRC’s advanced machine learning capability to PostProcess to accelerate the groundbreaking work that the team at Post Process have done,” said CUBRC’s project lead, Dr. John Coles. “Our efforts in developing a class of technologies that turn massive amounts of data into actionable information for decision makers is a perfect fit for PostProcess’ applications and mission.”
Daniel Hutchinson, Founder and CTO of PostProcess, commented enthusiastically on the partnership, saying: “PostProcess was founded on software as the first component of our solution. We’ve known since the beginning that data analytics was an essential part of doing data science at scale. That’s why we’ve chosen CUBRC for its experience and expertise in data extraction, alignment, analysis and systems optimization technologies to enhance and expedite our post-printing software platforms.”
PostProcess Technologies, which recently expanded its product offering into the European market, is dedicated to improving post-processing steps for additive manufacturing with increased automation. Automating post-processing is a key step in the industrialization of 3D printing.
