PassivDom, a USA based startup founded by Ukranian Max Gerbut, introduced its autonomous self-learning 3D printed mobile house at the recent StartupGrind Conference in Silicon Valley. It was the first presentation of this project on a global stage. The PassivDom off-grid 3D-printed gadget house is a sustainable self-learning, Zero Carbon Emission house powered solely by solar energy. The frame is produced using an industrial 3D printer robot.
PassivDom combines several innovative feature, including autonomous off-grid power, Zero Carbon emission, a 3D-printed prefabricated frame, self-learning smart home capability with an Internet Of Things network. It is mass produced and the first modules are already completed.

Autonomy. PassivDom is an off-grid house that uses only solar energy to satisfy its inhabitants’ needs: climate control (heating and cooling), water generated from air humidity, air quality and carbon dioxide control. The house also produces PV electricity for all household appliances.
The house is fully equipped with all engineering systems, including an air recuperation system, a heat pump for heating and cooling with a remote-controlled thermostat hub, an air quality medic HEPA system, a photovoltaic off-grid system powered by LiFePO2 batteries, a gray water filtration system with heat recovery, heat energy storage, a boiler and a water tank. It is hurricane protected and earthquake safe. PassivDom is sold completely ready for living with furniture, household appliances, a kitchen, shower, a WC – and even pillows.
Absolute autonomy means freedom from electricity transmission lines, gas pipelines and plumbing. Wherever you are – in the centre of New York or high up in the Andes Mountains, PassivDom will create the perfect living conditions.
PassivDom makes living in the mountains or on the seashore as comfortable as a 5* hotel.
Zero Carbon Emission. The house uses only clean solar power and doesn’t require gas, coal or any other fuel. Its zero-emission pathway preserves nature and makes PassivDom environmentally friendly. PassivDom is a solution that offers fully autonomous houses with zero GHG emissions to help tackle the global warming. Our technology exceeds the requirements for energy efficiency in buildings established by the Paris Agreement.
3D printing technology. The frame is produced using an industrial 3D-printer robot. It prints layer by layer using manipulators. The printing materials include carbon fiber, fiberglass, polyurethane and resins. All components are environmentally safe and easy to recycle. The strong frame makes it possible to build without a foundation, so the unit is mobile and can be transported many times. 3D-printing technology means endless possibilities: the shape and design can be adapted to the requirements of any local market. It also means cheap and rapid production (with the potential for fast scaling around the world).
Self-learning smart home. All devices in the home are connected to the Internet Of Things network, so PassivDom is managed remotely by phone. A self-learning system controls air quality: carbon dioxide content, humidity and oxygen. The home is also connected to an online service system for distance monitoring and fault prevention.
Modularity. The modular construction allows for several modules to be combined to create a larger building — like Legos.

Energy efficiency. PassivDom is the world’s first mobile and transportable house with Passive House parameters. It is first off-the-grid Passive housing that does not need stable sun orientation due to PV over-productivity, even in the case of poor winter insulation in cold climates. PassivDom meets the Zero Energy House standard and does not require any fuel for heating in cold climates. PassivDom is a Zero Energy house for cold and hot climates.
