Two of the first-ever software systems created to provide some level of MES for 3D printers are joining forces: 3D Control Systems, the parent company of 3DPrinterOS, a premium advanced manufacturing software solutions provider, is named OctoPrint corporate sponsor process integrator with 3DPrinterOS platform.

As the access to 3D printing continues to expand, more and more users are bringing 3D printers into their homes and businesses. At the same time, more and more companies are launching new 3D printers. With the bulk of these devices based on material extrusion technology, there should be more solutions available but effectively integrating 3D printers and build software has proven challenging and costly.

An open-source solution emerged on the scene some years ago. Since its launch, OctoPrint has proven a to be a popular 3D printer web interface. It’s a popular product around the worlds and it’s all run by one inventor: German software engineer Gina Häußge.

“I’m really happy to welcome 3DPrinterOS on board as a corporate sponsor of OctoPrint! We share the goal to make 3D printing more accessible and easier for everyone, so this is great news!” said OctoPrint creator Gina Häußge of the new partnership.

Integrations have been popping up for years as more users and more companies want to integrate OctoPrint into their 3D printing workflows. But it’s not as easy as it sounds. Companies often have to invest in their own in-house programming teams to fully integrate OctoPrint. But not everyone is a professional programmer. Not everyone has millions of dollars and in-house expertise.

OctoPrint and 3DPrinterOS

3DPrinterOS’s mission has always been to simplify 3D printer management. Its 3D Printer Software Development Kit, was developed to help companies with machines, whether something new to market or working toward a new type of installation, to work as a bridge to get their solutions to market. The company works with partners, and now with OctoPrint as well, to identify ideal solutions. As a proud financial sponsor of OctoPrint, every 3D printer sold with a 3DprinterOS license will help generate financial support to a vibrant community.

The 3DPrinterOS SDK is available as a free download and as a paid, premium version with advanced features. “We are excited to help the community take 3D printers to market by making it easy to integrate open source software like OctoPrint, and help customers program all these different software to work exactly as they need them all to, in one place,” said John Dogru, President, Founder, and Chief Architect, 3DPrinterOS.
