nTopology Inc., a New York City-based developer of advanced engineering software, has revealed a big step ahead in its planned global expansion: the opening of its first European office in Regensburg, Germany.
When we spoke to nTopology’s founder and CEO Brad Rothenberg last month, it was clear the company was on the brink of making some large-scale announcements (following a $20 million investment). Today, we get our first taste of what’s to come for the boundary-pushing company.
The new German office, to be known as nTopology GmbH, has been planned for some time and is a direct response to the software company’s growing partner and customer base in Europe. The office will extend the reach of the company’s computational modeling software program, nTop Platform, which was officially launched this past July.
The software enables engineers to design highly complex parts for additive and other advanced manufacturing processes. The design environment integrates collaborative workflows which give users access to simultaneous design, simulation and manufacturing tools for creating optimal industrial parts.
“Large, global, enterprise-level manufacturing companies are adopting nTopology’s software to address engineering challenges and initiatives such as lightweighting, generative design and Industry 4.0,” said Rothenberg. “Our expansion into Germany is the logical next step since that is the base for much of European manufacturing.”
The nTopology GmbH team will first mark the company’s expansion into Europe with a three-month tour, during which it will visit select partners at their European production sites in order to demonstrate the company’s design and manufacturing solutions, including simulation, topology optimization, architected materials and more. The three-month-long tour will culminate at Formnext, where both the North American and German nTopology teams will be in attendance.
Fabian Grupp, a new nTopology GmbH representative who has extensive experience in the AM industry, said: “Our presence [in Germany] will serve as an important resource to help customers realize increased product functionality, reduced development cycles and optimized designs for AM.”
