New Filaflex Purifier and PLA Purifier filaments reduce CO2

Recreus, a Spanish manufacturer of filaments for 3D printing has been working to manufacture and develop filaments and solutions for extrusion additive manufacturing, and, in this case, to help the environment. The new Purifier range of materials consists of two new 3D printing filaments: Filaflex Purifier and PLA Purifier.

Millions of tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are released into the atmosphere every day. We know that the best solution is to reduce emissions worldwide, but in the meantime, can you imagine being able to make parts with your 3D printer from a material capable of converting greenhouse gases and harmful gases into harmless mineral particles?

Both filaments are well known in the industry, one flexible and soft (Filaflex) and the other rigid and one of the most popular and used in 3D printing (Recreus PLA). Both now include an additive with an innovative compound that adsorbs and mineralizes Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s), turning them into mineral particles harmless to the environment and human beings.

How do Filaflex Purifier and PLA Purifier work?

Parts printed with Filaflex Purifier and PLA Purifier contain the latest technology in gas mineralization. Through this technology, the CO2, NOx and VOCs particles that adhere to the surface of the parts printed with Purifier filaments undergo a transformation. This transformation of harmful particles into harmless particles is achieved through the processes of catalysis and photocatalysis. This is how particles derived from greenhouse gases and harmful gases (CO2, NOx, and VOCs) are transformed into mineral particles that are harmless to the environment.

With Filaflex Purifier and PLA Purifier, added value is given to the usual parts and/or new applications can be created, contributing to a healthier environment. As well as print soft and flexible parts with all the properties of the Filaflex star filament, but also with the possibility of converting harmful gases, such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s), that come into contact with the printed part with Filaflex Purifier into mineral particles that are harmless to the environment and human beings.
