Materialise Poland inaugurated its new and expanded multi-million euro facility and offices in the Wroclaw region of Poland The new plan will expand the company’s Laser Sintering capacity, as well as provide the space for new employees in the region.

As reported by 3Dprint.com, Materialise Poland had announced the expansion plans in 2016. The construction and expansion are part of a move precipitated by Materialise’s purchase of e-Prototypy, a company known as a leader in Poland for rapid prototyping and 3D printing, specializing in laser sintering, 3D scanning, and reverse engineering.

The facility in Wroclaw will offer 3D printers, an area for post-production, and also a research and development centre. Materialise’s Factory for 3D Printing currently has 150 machines overall, spread over production facilities in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Belgium, to name a few. The new building in Poland now provides capacity for over 80 Laser Sintering machines and that number will be increased in the future as Materialise works to fulfil a greater demand for orders in both 3D printing and prototyping services.

According to Piotr Adamczewski, director of Materialise, this too will help the company maintain their position as a global market leader and to continue investing in the future to expand its knowledge in the booming 3D printing industry.

Founded in 2008, e-Prototypy S.A. was Poland’s first comprehensive prototype center specializing in the production of fully functional prototypes using 3D printing and 3D scanning and in the direct production of small series (Direct Digital Manufacturing) using VC, CNC, SLS, DMLS. Through their technology, e-Prototypy allows for the production of finished, plastic products for small and medium-series, or one-offs, without the need for traditional molds.

The main offering of e-Prototypy S.A. are their “Rapid Prototyping” services-  the production of physical models using various 3D Printing methods, including SLS, FDM, POLYJET, and DMLS. For FDM and SLS, the company has the largest working chambers in the region: FDM – 406x356x406 [mm] and SLS – 700x380x580 [mm]. Additionally, the company provides 3D scanning services – color deviation maps, reverse engineering, dimensional control of the physical detail with documentation. Dimensional scanning allows for the creation of a digital model using a physical object (Reverse Engineering), which e-Prototypy S.A. can then edit or change as well as make copies using incremental technologies.
