MarkForged Launches Metal X for Low Cost Metal 3D Printing

From the company that revolutionized 3D printing with composite carbon fiber, comes a breakthrough in metal. The new Metal X greatly accelerates innovation, delivering metal parts overnight using a new technology at a fraction of the cost. Leave 20th century manufacturing in the dust and create anything from industrial replacement parts to injection molds to working prototypes.

Sam Bianchi Bazzi from Creatr, one of Markforged’s international distributors, explained that it is based on a new technology called ADAM (Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing) which basically uses a composite filament made of plastic and metal particles. Once the part has been built, it is sintered in a furnace in order to melt away the polymers and obtain a fully metallic part.

Currently the rumored price is around $100,000 with a build volume of 250 x 220 x 200, with a forecasted launch date in September 2017.
