L’Oréal partners with AMFG to streamline AM workflows

AMFG, a supplier of MES and Workflow automation software for additive manufacturing, and L’Oréal have partnered to optimize rapid prototyping workflows in its 3D printing lab. As 3D printing volumes increased, L’Oréal decided to invest in a solution that could support this growth and chose AMFG’s software as its workflow management platform.

“Considering our 3D printing volumes of thousands of parts per year, investing in an additive MES was a natural step for us. We chose AMFG for its broad functionality and the ability to customize it to our needs,” said Matthew Forrester, Additive Technical Manager at L’Oréal.

L’Oréal implemented AMFG’s ordering portal, instant pricing software, and data visualization tools to make it easier for engineers and designers to order prototypes internally. Using AMFG’s ordering portal, L’Oréal’s engineers and designers can easily order and reorder 3D-printed parts, as well as track the status of their orders online.

Matthew Forrester added: “The integration of the AMFG software allows us to automate previously manual and time-consuming processes, such as ordering 3D parts. This, in turn, helps us improve the efficiency of our 3DLabs and ensures that our engineers and designers get the prototypes as fast as possible”.

AMFG software MES to simplify AM workflows

The backend system also allows 3DLab assistants to track incoming requests, evaluate 3D parts using custom pricing formulas, and view designs. The latter allows all team members to quickly check files before placing orders. In addition, using AMFG’s software, engineers can convert files to multiple file formats without having to use any file conversion software and automatically analyze and repair the most common file errors.

The digitization of the order workflow will help L’Oréal automate manual processes, standardize the order submission process and create a better user experience for internal AM users.
