The second edition of IN(3D)USTRY From Needs to Solutions, which takes place on October 3-5 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, is shaping up to be a resounding success. IN(3D)USTRY 2017 organizers have already secured the participation of senior executives from major companies that use advanced additive manufacturing, such as Airbus, Renault and Adidas, who will be among the 40 speakers at the five themed conferences (Aeronautics, Automotive, Retail, Health and Industry) and the 50 exhibitors at the event.

The Aeronautics panel includes Jonathan Meyer, the director of Additive Manufacturing at Airbus, Europe’s biggest airline manufacturer; Advenit Makaya, the manufacturing engineer at the European Space Agency and representatives of Thales Alenia, the biggest manufacturer of satellites in Europe and Aernnova, the leader in the design and manufacture of aeronautical components.

The Automotive panel brings together representatives from a sector that is putting a priority on advanced additive manufacturing in its processes. Speakers will include Norberto Martín, leader of DKM Models at SEAT’s Prototype Development Centre; Melanie Barriere, head of Design Innovation and Advanced Technologies Department at Renault; Roberta Sampieri, responsible of the Additive Manufacturing department at the FCA Group (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles); and Local Motors, a start-up that manufactures autonomous vehicles in 3D.

The health sector will also have a prominent presence with Avinent, the leading dental implant and prosthetics laboratory, and Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona Hospital, a pioneer in the use of 3D printing, as well as the participation of Tractivus, a start-up that seeks to reduce the complications arising from tracheal implants. After that, the Retail panel will take place with presentations by the members of the jury for the Reshape Awards, which recognize the best designs created through additive and advanced manufacturing worldwide. Those representatives include Simone Cesano from Adidas and Peter Hanappe from Sony.

The industrial panel will include Ulli Klenk, the director responsible for advanced manufacturing strategy in Siemens; Stefanie Brickwede from DB, the German railway company, or Alstom, the railway rolling stock manufacturer.

With the aim of introducing advanced additive manufacturing to every industrial sector, IN(3D)USTRY 2017 will take place within the framework of Barcelona Industry Week, which includes Expoquimia, the trade show for the chemical industry; Eurosurfas (surface treatments); Equiplast, (plastics sector); World Chemical Summit and the IoT Solutions World Congress, the trade event for the industrial Internet.
