Chinese ceramic 3D printer manufacturer Yin Tailai laser, also known as Intellite Laser or iLaser, has demonstrated proficient SLA 3D printing of silicon nitride on its CeraBuilder160Pro 3D printer.

Silicon nitride, which is currently commercially offered only by Lithoz, one of the technological leaders of the ceramic AM market, via DLP stereolithography, is an excellent structural material with advanced properties such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat and thermal shock resistance and strong oxidation resistance.

Nitrogen silicon ceramics can resist extremely high temperatures of up to 1200 ℃ for long periods of time. It melts at 1900 °C and has remarkable chemical resistance, against almost all inorganic acid and caustic soda solutions below 30%. It is also resistant to the corrosion of many organic acids. At the same time, it is a high-performance electrical insulating material.

With the improvement of its mechanical properties and the improvement of processing technology, its application fields are continuously expanding and occupy an increasingly important position in the technical ceramics market. The Intellite Laser CeraBuilder160Pro uses laser-based light-curing printing technology to be able to print and shape silicon nitride materials.

Because of silicon nitride ceramics’ excellent characteristics, they are used to make bearings, turbine blades, mechanical seal rings, permanent molds and other mechanical components. If silicon nitride ceramics, which are resistant to high temperatures and difficult to transfer heat, are used to make the heating surfaces of engine components, not only can the quality of the diesel engine be improved overall, but also fuel and thermal efficiency can be improved.

Silicon nitride ceramic is an indispensable key material in industrial technology, especially cutting-edge technology. Silicon nitride ceramics are used in aerospace, military, mechanical engineering, communications, electronics, automobiles, energy, chemical and biological fields due to their high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, wear-resistance and unique electrical properties. Especially in the field of high-temperature structural ceramics, silicon nitride ceramics is a new material with the best comprehensive performance and the most application potential, with hopes to replace nickel-based alloys and gain wide application in the field of high-temperature applications.
