HTC Uses BCN3D Sigma R17 for Materializing VR Designs at Mobile World Congress

HTC Vive is a wearable device that allows the user to immerse himself in a virtual world where interact with different virtual objects. One of the applications that is already revolutionizing the design process is the possibility of creating any object with VR headset and then manufacture it using a 3D printer. In order to carry this process out, Make VR is the design software that complements the HTC Vive headset. This program allows the user to create a model through virtual reality and then print it in three dimensions. HTC Vive has selected the new BCN3D Sigma R17 as the 3D printer that will be printing some of the designs created by attendees during the MWC.

The 3D printer’s unique Independent Dual Extruder (IDEX) system allows to print 2 different materials or colors while also ensuring a fine surface finish. The idle toolhead remains parked, preventing the dripping of molten plastic onto the part. Its reliability and versatility thanks to the IDEX system enables the BCN3D Sigma to manufacture any complex geometry that will be designed during the MWC 2017.
