HP and Superfeet team up with New Balance to 3D print custom insoles

3D printing company HP Inc. has announced a collaboration with insole brand Superfeet and sportswear company New Balance. Together, the companies will produce and market customized 3D printed insoles based on customer’s biometric data.

HP and Superfeet have worked together in recent years to accelerate mass customization in the footwear industry. In 2017, the partners teamed up with Brooks Running Company to create tailored sneakers using the FitStation powered by HP platform. They have also worked with others, including Steitz Secura. Now, sportswear giant New Balance is teaming up with the partners to utilize HP’s Fitstation and Multi Jet Fusion technologies.

HP New Balance Superfeet collab

Fitstation powered by HP is an end-to-end 3D footwear solution that combines 3D scanning, dynamic gait analysis technology and 3D printing to create bespoke footwear and insoles. The technology uses biometric data to generate optimized footwear designs, which are then brought to life using HP’s Multi Jet Fusion technology and materials such as Ultrasint TPU (by BASF).

Working with New Balance, HP and its partner Superfeet will produce customized insoles for clients. Customers can take advantage of the offering by visiting select New Balance stores equipped with HP Fitstation and Volumental solutions. The custom insoles, sold under the brand New Balance Stride 3D insoles, will be available in three collections: Running, Sport and Casual. The insoles are now available in the United States and Canada.

In addition to announcing the new collaboration with Superfeet and New Balance, HP is also preparing to showcase its footwear technologies at ISPO Munich next week. There, HP will display a range of materials and technologies for the footwear market as well as demonstrate its Fitstation platform.
