Höganäs 3D Prints Component for Mass Production of Silvent Pro One Compressed Air Tool

Silvent, a global leader in compressed air dynamics, has pre-launched a new revolutionary air gun. The Silvent Pro One gun contains 3D printed components produced using Höganäs Digital Metal (metal binder jetting) technology and is one of the very first 3D printed metal applications made for mass production.

Höganäs has worked together with Rasmus Tibell, Technical Director at Silvent, for more than four years on the air gun that has many benefits compared to a traditional solution. The special design saves energy and reduce noise. This would not have been possible to achieve without the use of Digital Metal, Höganäs 3D printing technology for metal parts.

“It has been challenging but rewarding work, says Hans Kimblad, Technical Director at Höganäs. The 3D printed components combine advanced design, fine internal surfaces with though cost requirements.”

The air gun is one of the very first applications for mass production that uses 3D printed metal components. It was pre-launched early June at an event in Borås, Sweden where Silvent’s headquarters is located, where global sales representatives, selected customers, suppliers and local representatives were invited.

Digital Metal technology is especially relevant in the industrial arena, where the design freedom provided by 3D metal printing makes it possible to quickly and cost effectively produce e.g. hollowed and meshed metal components with undercuts, ducts, cavities and internal structures.
