3D printed splitters for use with ventilators could allow multiple patients to be serviced by a single patient. This is currently being explored as an emergency option if there are not enough ventilators. Parts were designed at the specific request from Albany Medical College to replace the set of tees and tubes they had been using for this.

The design has been validated to split flow effectively with fake lungs and is being further studied before it is approved for use with patients.
