Formula 1 launches titanium 3D printed eyewear collection with Formuleyes

Another F1-branded, esclusive product makde possible by AM

Formula 1 loves AM (and 3D printing loves F1). So much so that the organization behind the top global racing circuit continues to implement AM processes in the production of new, exclusive F1-branded products. In the latest deal, Formula 1 has announced a new licensing deal with specialist eyewear company Formuleyes to release an exclusive collection of premium glasses, celebrating the sport’s past, present and future as part of its 70th-anniversary celebrations.

Joan Carrera Lopez, Sr. Manager Consumer Products and Licensing, F1, said: “We are very excited to launch a range of products in a category that we believe is at the very core of our brand. Eyewear and motor racing have always been connected and we are proud to partner with Formuleyes to deliver a great collection to our fans”.

This is hardly the first 3D printed, exclusive F1 product. Readers of this website may remember the 3D printed F1 Perfume story we broke a few months ago, with the launch of an official F1 Fragrance brand using 3D printed bottles. The collection was created by Designer Parfums and designed by Ross Lovegrove to convey the excitement, passion, technology and dynamism of Formula 1.

This first eyewear collection will feature three pairs of glasses, all representing a different aspect of what makes Formula 1 so special. The ‘Titanium’, is the highlight of the collection as it’s made from a completely sustainable material and manufactured using a zero-footprint 3D-printed titanium technology, making each pair truly unique and exceptional. The ‘Titanium’ is a cutting-edge collector’s item and will be available from 25 September.

Whilst the ‘Titanium’ is highlighted by innovation, the ‘Gold’ celebrates Formula 1’s 70-year heritage, offering sustainable quality, crafted from handmade cellulose acetate, titanium and carbon fiber and is available from October 25th 25 October. Completing the collection is the ‘Red’, which combines sport and fashion providing eyewear that can be worn on the street or the track; available 25 November.
