Forecast 3D helped produce Syng’s Cell Alpha trisonic speaker using MJF

Stay up to date with everything that is happening in the wonderful world of AM via our LinkedIn community.

Presented globally last week, Syng‘s Cell Alpha trisonic speaker system is a revolution in home audio. It features parts from HP 3D printing that enable to be the first all-encompassing audio product that renders sound for the wide spectrum of the content we consume today – from music to TV to anything else.

The driving technology of Syng, Triphonic, is an all-inclusive audio solution that turns listening into feeling. With Triphonic technology, the Cell turns your space into a field of clear, detailed sound – a fully immersive experience that puts the listener inside his or her favorite music and entertainment. Triphonic lets listeners step into a field of sound and experience the beauty and emotion in every note.

Syng’s breakthrough audio system was designed by its co-founder Christopher Stringer, a former long-time leader of Apple’s industrial design group. By merging the most advanced sound technology software and industry-leading 3D printed capabilities, Syng produced the world’s first-ever Triphonic speaker– the Cell Alpha –and completely revamped the high-fidelity speaker for a new category of audio: smart sound. Syng’s first product leverages HP’s Multi Jet Fusion platform to produce the Halo – a critical component of their new Cell.

The geometries used in acoustic products are critical to the final sound quality. Using HP’s Multi Jet Fusion technology and partnering with Forecast 3D on production, Syng 3D printed the horns that are used in the Cell Alpha to avoid combining multiple pieces and seams in the manufacturing process, improving the overall sound quality from the speaker at a competitive price.

This object-based sonic architecture allows painting sound around a space: place it wherever, move it, shrink it, magnify it, and layer it — or let the Cell handle it. Triphonic understands what the artist wants listeners to hear, accurately spatializes it for any room and always keeps the sound centered. More Cells can be added to a home, unlocking new levels of spatial control and possibility. By projecting sound with unrivaled precision to exactly the right place in the sound field, Cell Alpha creates sound that is more spacious and immersive than ever before

Two Cells cooperate to fill every inch of space with sound. There is no proper arrangement: wherever they are placed, they work together to create a singular sound field. Three Cells provide the fullest expression of Triphonic audio. This completely immersive sound field is richer, clearer, and centered on the listener, with complete spatial control and total envelopment.

The Syng experience will continue to evolve, expand, and advance. That means more possibilities every step of the way and no planned obsolescence. It will do so by continuing to leverage HP’s advanced industrial 3D printing solutions, as they pave the path for high-end, durable and personalized products. From optimized design to mass production of highly customized parts, digital manufacturing is opening up entirely new opportunities for companies like Syng to stand out.
