First Exclusive Details on New Ackuretta Sub-$20,000 Professional DLP System and Resins

Based in Taipei, Ackuretta is positioning itself as a manufacturer of professional level DLP systems for applications in jewelry, dentistry and industrial manufacturing. The company’s first system, the Ackuray A135 was designed and developed by industry experts to offer 90% of the performances from market leading EnvisionTEC systems such at just 25% of the cost.

We caught up with Ackuretta founder Ayush Bagla to understand more about the company’s philosphy, hardware, materials and software just ahead of the systems’ official launch. “We feel that more and more people are looking for experiences rather than simple products,” says Bagla. “That’s why we feel that over the next few years 3D technologies are going to radically change the jewelry industry, in many cases by offering semi-precious polymer based alternative that are going to be used to make high quality product more accessible than precious metals.”

QuraWAX BallBuilt with high-grade, durable components, the Ackuray system implements standard DLP technology, introducing several elements to improve reliability and quality, guaranteeing hundreds of prints. The system has very few moving parts, making it highly reliable and easy to operate. “In most printers when you have a failed print you need to empty and change the vat, which is a very time consuming operation,” Bagla explains, “in the Ackuray system you just press a button to cure the bottom layer so that you can simply peel it off like a sticker.”

Now in the hands of a select number of satisfied beta customers, the Ackuray A135 system is going to be commercially available at $18,900 with 8 different resins engineered specifically for applications in jewelry, dentistry, These include four biocompatible materials, as well as materials for casting and modeling. The system will also come bundled with Materialise Magics however and development in the upcoming months will focus on iproving support generation, something that – Bagla says – currently requires extensive experience. Full automation in 3D printing is still far away but the Ackuray system is a big step in the right direction.
