Chinese 3D printing company Farsoon Technologies has announced it has terminated its distribution partnership agreement with France-based Prodways. The partnership, which was signed into being over five years ago and included distribution of Farsoon’s plastic 3D printers, peripherals and powders, expired on December 31, 2020 and will not be renewed.
It is not bad blood between the two companies that has led to this separation; Farsoon stated that the longstanding distribution collaboration was a fruitful and mutually beneficial one. Rather, the company made the decision to cut ties with Prodways because of its own international growth. In the past three years, Farsoon has launched legal entities in Germany, Russia and the United States, and has formed partnerships with many regional distributors and sales agents.
This international expansion was also supported by growth on the home front. Farsoon not only reported strong revenue growth in China in 2020, but it bolstered its technical support organization at its headquarters in Changsha, China. This, it says, will enable the company to provide a mix of local, regional and advanced support to its clientele.
In 2020, Farsoon also grew its 3D printing portfolio with the launch of several new systems, including the Flight 252P series for high-temperature polymers—a sintering system that uses fiber-based lasers instead of CO2-based lasers to expand the range of possible materials—and the FS621M, a large-format metal AM system with a 1.1 meter vertical axis. The company also introduced a number of new 3D printing materials.
All that to say, though Farsoon is ending a long-running distribution partnership with Prodways, the company is very much looking to the future and its own growth with optimism. Today, its global sales and support network covers countries around the world, including China, Taiwan, Russia, Mexico, Korea, India, Singapore and Thailand, while is has exclusive sales agents in Italy, Poland, Spain and Portugal.
The company adds, “Farsoon thanks Prodways team very much for the great partnership, and wishes Prodways a prosperous future.”
