Advances and Breakthroughs for PBT Materials within Additive Manufacturing

The use of laser sintering polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) materials is expected to increase exponentially over the next decade, driven by accelerating innovations in the automotive, electrical, and electronics industries. This trend is especially true for the automotive industry, where the need for lighter, more sustainable, lower maintenance materials rules future designs as manufacturers seek to minimize issues surrounding the corrosion of metals and their associated high costs. Most recently, DSM has produced Arnite® T AM1210 (P), the first-ever PBT powder commercially available for series production of industrial and automotive electronics, which will be available with Nexa3D’s Quantum Laser Sintering QLS™ 350 system starting in 2021.
