DMM.make to offer PostPro3D post processing for B2B and B2C AM services in Japan
In partnership with 3D Printing Corporation

Leveraging technical support from 3D Printing Corporation, DMM’s 3D printing service division DMM.make started offering post-processing capabilities for its B2B and B2C online 3D printing services in Japan. DMM.make, which offers online 3D printing services using HP MJF and Markforged CFF technologies among others, has now added AMT‘s PostPro3D system for special surface treatment service to achieve injection molding part quality on 3D printed products.

3D Printing Corporation which is headquartered in Yokohama City is the sole distributor in Japan of the PostPro 3D system for the chemical surface treatment. Through a joint venture with DMM.com the company provides technical support for the special surface treatment services as of January 13th 2021.
Manufacturing with 3D printers has been growing significantly in Japan, but due to the surface roughness peculiar to parts modeled with 3D printers, such as those based on filament extrusion and even polymer powder bed fusion processes, the part quality may be inadequate for some parts or final products where the feel and appearance are important.
The special surface treatment service provided using AMT’s surface treatment machine PostPro 3D will now be included in the “Surface treatment and post-processing service” of 3D printed products by the DMM.make, the 3D printing division of DMM.com. 3D Printing Corporation, AMT’s sole distributor in Japan, will provide technical support for this service.
Post Pro 3D leverages a chemical treatment using an organic solvent to make the surface quality of 3D printed products close to injection molding quality without significantly altering the part’s dimensions. Furthermore, it makes it possible to improve mechanical properties such as waterproofing, airtightness, and paintability.
By offering this service to both individual and corporate users, DMM.make intends to expand the possibilities of A applications to the manufacturing of more types of final products. DMM.make will propose optimum surface treatment and post-processing capabilities according to the intended use for the products modeled by DMM.make’s 3D printing service or the products modeled by the customer.
