Italy-based BEAMIT, one of the largest additive manufacturing service bureaus in Europe, has announced it is moving into new territory, literally. According to a recent release, the company is inaugurating a commercial agency in Japan, which will focus on the energy, motorsport, aviation, space and defense sectors.
BEAMIT’s Japan-based initiative will be supported by Mr. Eiji Akita, former Senior Chief Engineer at Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems. BEAMIT, for its part, will bring its skills and knowledge about additive manufacturing to the table, providing a comprehensive additive offering to new clients in the Japanese market.
“We are eager to finalize another important step to pursue our business development strategy,” said Michele Antolotti, BEAMIT General Manager. “Mr. Eiji Akita is a well known professional with a huge engineering expertise, in a position to leverage the services of BEAMIT to be applied to demanding engineering applications within the Japanese market.”
Akita also expressed his enthusiasm about BEAMIT’s new Japan-based commercial agency, saying: “I’m very excited to support BEAMIT’s advanced technology in entering the Japanese market.”
At its facilities near Parma, Italy, BEAMIT operates a large fleet of AM systems—consisting over over 30 machines. Its expansion into the Japanese market through a commercial agency is part of the company’s global growth strategy, which is targeting “highly technological geographical areas.”
BEAMIT has had a busy year. In July, AM powder provider Sandvik acquired a sizeable stake in the Italian service bureau. At Formnext, the partners jointly presented AM powders, including new nickel-based superalloys and titanium powders. Even more recently, BEAMIT bought stake in PRES-X, an Italian startup focused on post-processing technologies.
