BEAMIT acquires stake in AM post-processing startup PRES-X

Italy-based additive manufacturing service provider BEAMIT has announced the acquisition of stake in PRES-X, a startup specializing in AM post-processing. The investment in PRES-X will enable BEAMIT to expand its own knowledge of AM as well as its offering, strengthening its position in the European AM market.
PRES-X is reportedly the first company in Europe with the capability to perform High Pressure Heat Treatments on 3D printed production parts. The young company owes this capability to an QIH60 system it acquired from Sweden-based Quintus Technologies. The QIH60, installed at PRES-X’s Italy facility, is able to perform Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) as well as simultaneous heat treatment for metal 3D printed parts.

“We are extremely pleased to announce this deal and partnership with PRES-X, which aims to leverage synergies and further strengthen both companies’ position on the metal AM market,” said Michele Antolotti, CEO of BEAMIT. “We see the need to simplify the AM supply chain, to make it more efficient, including highly advanced special processes. We are convinced that this will further enhance the value we offer to our customers.”
With over 30 AM systems at its Parma site, BEAMIT today operates one of the largest metal additive manufacturing production facilities. The company, which produces metal components for industries like aerospace, automotive, energy and motorsport, is seeking to reinforce its position in the AM market. By acquiring stake in PRES-X, it is doing this by turning its focus to state-of-the-art post-processing capabilities.
“We are extremely pleased about our strategic partnership with BEAMIT, since we share the same vision regarding what will be the key drivers for the AM market in order to achieve excellence in all areas,” said Andrea Scanavini, President of PRES-X. “Our collaboration with a leading AM service provider like BEAMIT is a strategic booster for our new and innovative services, which allows us to create a competence and production center that can play a key role on the worldwide market for metal Additive Manufacturing.”
