In a sure sign that additive manufacturing is becoming more mainstream, AM workflow software company Authentise has announced a multi-year partnership with Microsoft through which it will use Microsoft Azure and integrate its workflow management software tools into Microsoft Flow, a cloud-based workflow automation platform. The goal of the collaboration is to further automate and streamline the AM process.
The exciting collaboration will see Authentise begin the Microsoft Flow integration this week, with the Microsoft Flow Gallery adding functionalities for additive manufacturing. Specifically, additive manufacturing operators that use quoting, production and analytics processes will be given the tools to create their own automations without any coding knowledge.
Microsoft Flow will enable manufacturers to directly connect their Authentise AM data with third party applications such as Microsoft Office 365, Quickbooks, text messaging, email and more by simply dragging and dropping the operations. The integration will open up the ability to easily create custom alerts, dashboards and other workflow automation processes that will ultimately help to increase the transparency and efficiency of additive manufacturing operations.

Danfoss, a cooling and heating company, has been ramping up its additive manufacturing production in recent years and has managed this increase thanks to Authentise’s AM workflow software. Now, the Microsoft Flow integration has the potential to increase interoperability substantially and improve productivity.

Through the multi-year collaboration between Authentise and Microsoft, the AM software company will also be switching its existing customers to Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service.

California-based Authentise has its eye on the big picture for AM software. In recent months, the company has established a number of partnerships with other software providers that aims to make AM workflows as seamless as possible. In November, for instance, the company announced the integration of Autodesk’s Netfabb software with its additive workflow management tools. The software integration aims to offer users a more seamless process for editing, preparing and monitoring 3D prints. Authentise also partnered with Prosper3D to give its users access to its smart AM quoting tool.
