Anouk Wipprecht‘s done it again. The international designer’s latest high profile collaboration brings together prosthetics maker Össur and videogame publisher Ubisoft France and the Just Dance team. Working out of the Össur workshop in Orlando with Michael Tuttle of Össur, Anouk created a prosthetic arm for Angelina Bruno, a dancer who is currently working for the Just Dance videogame team. She made her first appearance in Just Dance 2021 on the song ‘Blinding Lights’ by artist The Weekend.
The team scanned in Angelina’s residual limb working with Brussel-based company Unic-3D Printing and using an EinScan Pro 2X from SHINING 3D. Which allowed Anouk to work with the scanned filed of Angelina her residual limb in 3D software creating a spike-like structure which was then 3D printed in PA-12 by Shapeways, using SLS technology. The liner is silicon and the socket thermoplastic. The translucent plexiglass inserts were laser-cut on a Beamo laser cutter so that light could shine through.
This is not Anouk’s first experience with enabling artists to perform via enhancements and prosthetics that argument their style and persona. Last year Wipprecht worked closely with singer Viktoria Modesta on the Rolls Royce Black Badge campaign, leveraging her deep understanding of AM (and other custom manufacturing processes) to create a new, futuristic and elegant, leg prosthetic with embedded tesla coil which was perfectly in line with the singer’s and the car brand’s style. Previously she had also designed the prostheses of the singer’s Bionic Showgirl show at the Crazy Horse, in Paris and other stage shows.
