AMT launches in U.S., appoints Luis Folgar as Executive VP for the Americas

Additive Manufacturing Technologies Ltd. (AMT), a UK-based specialist in post processing solutions for 3D printed parts, is expanding its business operations and customer support into the North American market. The expansion was marked by the appointment of Luis Folgar as AMT’s new Executive Vice President for the Americas.

Folgar will bring his extensive professional experience in materials, process engineering, business development and management experience in the AM industry to AMT’s executive team with the aim of pushing forward the company’s growth. Notably, Folgar was part of Nike’s elite manufacturing innovation team for the past five years, where he helped develop advanced materials and supported business development projects which brought AM into Nike’s agenda.

His professional experience also includes a stint at Paramount Industries, Inc., a 3D Systems company in the defense, aerospace, medical and consumer products industries. Folgar also worked his way up at the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG), starting as Vice Chair and becoming Chairman. The new AMT EVP also holds a range of patents in the areas of materials, design, manufacturing processes and advanced post-processing technologies for 3D printing.

In addition to heading the new Americas operations for AMT, Folgar will be directing the company’s technical support and strategic business development functions from AMT’s office in Austin, Texas.

Folgar echoed Crabtree’s excitement, stating: “AMT is experiencing accelerated growth with the success of its automated post processing technology and the demand for disruptive automation within the 3D printing industry and beyond. It is a tremendous pleasure to join Joseph and the AMT team, and I am excited and ready to further the company’s success from one of the largest hubs for 3D printing in the United States, Austin, Texas”

Prior to his illustrious career in the additive manufacturing realm, Folgar obtained a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Msc in Integrated Science and Technology from James Madison University.

In other recent AMT news, the post processing company officially launched its patented PostPro3D machine this past September, which had been in development for some time. AMT and Luis Folgar will be attending the upcoming Formnext trade show in Frankfurt, occupying Stand G38 in Hall 3.1. The new PostPro3D machine will be on display there as well.
