Advanced Manufacturing International, Inc. (AMI), a Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group, Inc. (MTDG) subsidiary, appointed Stephan Biller, Ph.D. as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Dr. Biller will report directly to MTDG President Dean L. Bartles, Ph.D., FSME, FASME.“I have had the extraordinary pleasure of knowing Stephan as both a colleague and a friend for many years,” said Dr. Bartles. “He is a technological visionary. Stephan possesses all the leadership qualities, a strong commitment to excellence, and an extensive background in digital transformation technologies needed to grow AMI into the trusted and recognized leader of digital and smart manufacturing solutions. I am excited to be working with Stephan in growing the organization and empowering all manufacturers to implement digital innovations that will enable them to better compete in the global economy. From all of us at the MTDG family of companies, we extend a warm welcome to Stephan.”
Dr. Biller brings to AMI more than 20 years of experience in analytics, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), additive manufacturing, and digital manufacturing, for which he has recently been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. As CEO of AMI, Dr. Biller will work closely with Dan Nagy, VP of International Programs, who is transitioning to AMI from NCDMM to cultivate partnerships with key solution providers and identify international customers who could benefit from AMI’s expertise. Mr. Nagy will report to Dr. Biller. Additionally, the position of VP of Smart Manufacturing Programs will also report to Dr. Biller once a candidate is hired.
“I am honored to join AMI and collaborate with the leadership across the MTDG family of companies,” said Dr. Biller. “It is a tremendous opportunity to contribute to not only building AMI into an industry leader in the digital manufacturing sector, but also continuing to innovate for the advance manufacturing industrial base at large. There are significant benefits to integrating digital manufacturing technologies and processes into manufacturing operations. I look forward to helping our customers, particularly small to medium-sized manufacturers, harness the vast potential of digital manufacturing to transform their companies.”
AMI was founded earlier this month as a new subsidiary of MTDG and a sister, not-for-profit company to the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) to support MTDG’s long-term growth strategy within the global advanced manufacturing industry. AMI seeks to advance innovative technologies and best practices into global manufacturing markets while expanding into the broader U.S. manufacturing sector beyond the defense industrial base currently served for nearly 20 years by NCDMM.
