Amazing (Not 3D Printed) Morpheus Hotel Serves as Base for 3D Structures of Tomorrow

It’s clearly not 3D printed in any way – although it is very likely that Zaha Hadid architects used 3D printing for many parts of the building’s physical modeling and prototyping – but the Morpheus Hotel and Tower in Macau is probably one of the clearest example of what can be achieved with the use of advanced computational software in architecture.

The development of this amazing structure and the computational work that went into it is described in a Rhino webinar titled  The Morpheus Hotel – From Design to Production webinar. The webinar was a collaborative presentation from the project team of The Morpheus Hotel and Tower in Macau. Project leads from Zaha Hadid Architects and Front Inc discussed the role of advanced computational technology from the design to the analysis, and fabrication, as well as the construction of this remarkable project, due to open in 2018.

Presenters include:

  • Viviana Muscettola, Zaha Hadid Architects
  • Michele Salvi, Zaha Hadid Architects
  • Miron Mutyaba, Zaha Hadid Architects
  • Ramon van der Heijden, Front Inc.
  • Alan Tai, Front Inc.
  • Evan Levelle, Front Inc.

Built on behalf of Melco Crown Entertainment Limited, a developer, owner and operator of casino gaming and entertainment casino resort facilities in Asia, the new hotel brand was created for the new fifth hotel tower at City of Dreams – Morpheus, named after the God of Dreams. The brand differentiates itself by embodying a new contemporary, simple yet stunning, and sophisticated kind of luxury like no others. Morpheus signifies the beginning of a new wave of opulent hospitality experience in Macau that has the potential to attract visitors from global destinations.
