Product design and development company Altair has just launched Altair Inspire Studio, a new 3D design and rendering software solution. The software was developed for designers, architects and digital artists and offers a flexible and comprehensive set of tools for designing, visualizing and evaluating products.

Among the key features integrated into the new software solution is a full construction history, which allows users to backtrack to earlier design stages; sketching tools to create constraint-based 2D technical sketches; surfaces and curves, which enable users to accurately represent complex shapes with precision; polyNURBS, which combines the simplicity of polygonal modeling with the precision of NURBS to create free-form solid geometries; customizable tool belts and more.

The new Altair Inspire Studio software builds upon the company’s existing Altair Evolve platform, with a renewed focus on user experience. The various modeling tools and workflows integrated in the design software are now reportedly optimized for efficient design experience, from initial sketches to freeform, solid and PolyNURBS parametric modeling.

As part of the Inspire Studio launch, Altair is also introducing Inspire Render, a 3D rendering and animation software which enables users to rapidly generate photorealistic visualizations and animations of the their products with physically based lighting.

“We are very pleased with these two new solutions for the global industrial design community,” commented James Dagg, CTO at Altair. “Inspire Studio builds on our previous industrial design tool, Evolve, while going beyond Evolve’s capabilities. Inspire Studio will enhance designers’ creativity by letting them drive their designs.

“It offers an intuitive user interface and a powerful construction history, allowing them to quickly create and explore multiple iterations of their design. Relying on the same modern user experience with powerful interactive, full progressive and raytracing rendering engine, Inspire Render will help designers quickly run photorealistic renderings and walkthrough animations on GPUs and CPUs.”

“Altair Inspire Studio is the ideal tool that enables me to experiment, research, and discover shapes that otherwise would be just an idea, an image in my mind,” added Luca Palmini, designer and owner of Row Design. “As a designer, I appreciate the quality of the modeler and the simplicity managing individual components, allowing me to continuously apply changes in the quest for the perfect balance between form and function.”

Altair’s new software solution can be run as a standalone product on either MacOS or Windows or can be used under the company’s units-based licensing model. Both Inspire Studio and Inspire Render will be presented at the Altair booth at Formnext 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany.
