AddUp Group, a metal 3D printing machine manufacturer and producer of parts by metal additive manufacturing, has partnered with PostProcess to advance the metal 3D printing sector and bring streamlined processes to additive users. Founded in 2016 as the result of a partnership between two established companies, Michelin and Fives, AddUp offers a catalog of multi-technology production systems and on-demand part manufacturing. The alliance with PostProcess brings advanced post-print technology both in-house and to their users with software-driven, scalable surface finishing.
Speaking to the collaboration, Medhi Offroy, Post-processing Methods Engineer at AddUp Group, said, “We found in PostProcess Technologies the perfect match for a partnership. Digital integration in the post-processing of additive manufacturing is the point we were looking for to improve the value chain. The DECI Duo solution is really interesting to reduce surface roughness on delicate metal 3D printed parts. Now we can reach inaccessible surfaces in a quick execution time.”
PostProcess and AddUp share the vision that AM will not scale sustainably unless the entire process flow from design to finished part is digitized and automated. This requires industry collaboration among the ecosystem players. With this partnership, AddUp and PostProcess lay the foundation for scaling affordably and safely the manufacturing of AM parts by not only reducing the cost of post-printing but also improving safety and traceability through digitization and automation.
The AddUp 3D printer, the FormUp 350 New Generation, is able to produce metal parts not only with medium particle size powder but also with fine powder, which improves the final result of surface roughness reduction. “We found different applications in every field we work with to apply the combination of the FormUp 350 and the DECI Duo to meet the most challenging requirements of our customers”, commented Frank Moreau, AddUp CEO.
Joint work has started with an initial focus on parts printed by AddUp for the Aerospace, Fashion, Energy, Automotive, and Medical industries, and post printed with the PostProcess DECI Duo automated metal surface finishing solution. To drive efficiencies in their own manufacturing endeavors and support best their customers locally, AddUp will also implement the DECI Duo solution in two of its facilities in France and the USA.
“When considering the potential of additive manufacturing’s impact, the need to connect the ecosystem and enable processes through digitalization is paramount. This relationship does both of those things,” said Bruno Bourguet, Managing Director, PostProcess Technologies International. “We are delighted to partner with an esteemed name in the global metal 3D printing space and look forward to jointly helping customers globally.”
Both companies will have their 3D printing solutions on display at Formnext in Frankfurt, Germany, November 16-19.
