Additive Manufacturing Consortium meeting set for next July 25-26 in Boston

The Additive Manufacturing Consortium (AMC), operated by EWI, will hold its Summer Meeting July 25-26, 2018. The AMC hosts quarterly meetings to bring together a diverse group of AM end users, suppliers, researchers, and stakeholders across academia, government, and industry. This upcoming meeting will take place in Boston, Massachusetts, and will feature tours of two local AM facilities, Desktop Metal and Formlabs.

Established in 2010 in Columbus, Ohio, the AMC is a national consortium of industry, government, academic and non-profit research organizations to positively impact the AM landscape through organized and focused activities. It is dedicated to accelerating and advancing the manufacturing readiness of metal additive manufacturing technology. Its specific goals are to foster technical interchange by presenting timely cases studies and current research efforts at quarterly meetings; execute group sponsored, pre-competitive research projects within the AMC; collaborate on government funding opportunities, and provide a forum for discussing and shaping industrial and government roadmaps that define future funding.

AMC members focus on addressing the technical challenges in advancing metal additive manufacturing processes such as powder bed fusion, and directed energy deposition using lasers, arc and electron beams and solid-state processes such as ultrasonic additive manufacturing.

“Our program features presentations from across the AM community,” said Rutuja Samant, Acting Director of the AMC. “Our line-up includes speakers from NIST, a research institution: AP&C, a metal powder producer; and Moog, an end user, to name a few. We look forward to a very productive meeting.”

AMC meetings include two days of technical talks, tours, and a business meeting (AMC members only), plus an informal social event to encourage extended conversation and promote collaboration. Quarterly programs are intended to benefit both experienced AM users/ practitioners and those just beginning to explore the technology.

EWI is the leading engineering and technology organization in North America dedicated to developing, testing, and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies for industry.
