ACCIONA and IAAC Inaugurate First 3D Printed Pedestrian Bridge

From 3D printing models to 3D printing real scale architecture: Areti Markopoulou, Academic Director at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalunya (IAAC) presented and inaugurated the first 3D printed public bridge, which was built with the support of the Alcobendas City Council and ACCIONA Engineering.

iaac_3dprinted_bridge3ACCIONA offered the state-of-the-art technological and computing resources in order to handle any civil or industrial infrastructure, architecture or urban development project, always with an emphasis on environmental issues and energy efficiency. The company is offering additive construction services through D-Shape’s the large scale cement additive manufacturing technology to produce the bridge’s 3D printed sections.

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is a center for research, education, production and outreach, with the mission of imagining the future habitat of our society and building it in the present.
