3D Systems appoints new President and CEO, Dr. Jeffrey A. Graves
Dr. Graves will replace Vyomesh Joshi, who announced his retirement in Feb

3D Systems today announced the appointment of a new President and CEO, Dr. Jeffrey A. Graves, a veteran of the manufacturing industry with over 17 years of experience in a CEO position. Dr. Graves will officially join 3D Systems in the leadership position on May 26, 2020, replacing Vyomesh Joshi, who announced his retirement in February and has served as CEO of 3D Systems since April 2016, leading the company through a critical period.

Dr. Graves will make the transition to 3D Systems after serving as the CEO of MTS Systems, a leading global supplier of high-performance test, simulation and measurement systems, for eight years. In his tenure at MTS, he helped the company evolve through a focused business strategy and operating model. Before joining MTS, Graves also served as CEO of C&D Technologies, a provider of energy storage products, and of KEMET Electronics, a manufacturer of high-performance capacitor solutions.
“I am incredibly excited about the opportunity at 3D Systems,” he said. “Digital manufacturing will play a key role in the transformation of manufacturing, and 3D Systems is uniquely positioned with its portfolio of additive manufacturing systems, material science, software and domain expertise to help companies benefit from this transformation.”
Charles (Chip) McClure, chairman of 3D Systems’ Board of Directors, added: “Jeff’s financial and operational discipline and precision is a core reason we chose him for this role. He has shown that he knows how to organize and focus a business portfolio and streamline an operating model to deliver differentiated solutions to markets.”
Dr. Graves also serves on the board of directors of composite materials company Hexcel, and Faro, a company specializing in 3D capture, measurement and analysis solutions. The executive has a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctorate in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science.
3D Systems was founded in 1986 by 3D printing pioneer Chuck Hull and is today a leading additive manufacturing company. The company is headquartered in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
