Los Angeles based eco-friendly filament leader 3D Printlife has launched a new 3D printing social support network called “Life Support” (www.3dprintlifesupport.com). 3D Printlife announced their newly developed platform this month at CES 2017 in Las Vegas.
Life Support is a global tech support referral site for all things 3D printing. The platform allows users to easily connect with 3D printing experts in their area or around the world for on demand and on-site technical support. 3D Printlife is now seeking 3d printing experts who wish to provide support to end users in their area.
Life Support is intended to remove some of the support burden that many 3D printer manufacturers experience, both large and small. Life Support also offers 3D experts a way to monetize their 3D printing experience and – perhaps most importantly – enables end users to continue to use their 3D printers even after they are out of warranty.
Users on Life Support can search for Techs by rating, distance, area of expertise, and the type of service needed. Categories range from printer installation, calibration, tutorials, and repair, to CAD, slicing, and filament selection.
Techs who sign up will chose their own rates and the means for providing support, either on-site, Skype, telephone and other media. They will have a profile page to describe their expertise and availability. As in many networks, which are at the heart of the P2P revolution, users will be able to rate their experience, stimulating the quality of the interaction between those providing service and those receiving it.
Life Support Techs will also enjoy zero transaction or processing fees for any service they provide and will negotiate rates and invoice end users directly. Techs based in the United States will also receive special discounts from 3D Printlife on 3D printers and filaments.
3D Printlife is already working with many of the major 3D printer manufacturers they represent on ways to develop online and on-site certification programs for their Life Support Techs. This will create even greater opportunities for Techs as manufacturers reach out to them directly to provide training, installation, and ongoing support for their customers.
It is free to register and create a Tech profile on Life Support until June 1st, 2017. After June 1st, in order to help pay for advertising and site maintenance, 3D Printlife is asking Techs to subscribe for as little as $1.99 per month to maintain a profile on Life Support. Techs will not be charged until June 1, 2017. To register please visit www.3dprintlifesupport.com
