3D Printed Cosplay, or How to Invent a New Profession (Video)

Italian designer (turned Londoner) Simone Fontana is among the most prolific (re)creators of videogame property based 3D prints (or 3D printed cosplay), which he regularly features on his own YouTube channel, FNTSMN.
In his latest creations he shows the entire production process which goes into the recreation of League of Legends Leona’s Sword.
The creative process described in the video shows once again what we have been observing: 3D printing is no longer a stand alone process but a key component in a a production process that involves several different modular parts, the addition of non-3D printed elements and an extensive finishing process.
A New Profession, the 3D Printed Cosplay Creator
The sheer amount of amazing in-game items created by Simone over the past couple of years is impressive. From in-game guns and swords, to costumes and toys, he has single handedly put into production items that videogame lovers (such as himself) would do cartwheels to own.

As do the videogame developers and publisher, that have often reposted Simone’s creations on their websites or even used them as prizes for contests. If 3D printing has brought us a new way of making things, Simone has turned that into an entirely new profession.
