3D Platform Ships 500 Large Format Printers in Three Years

3D Platform marked a major milestone earlier this month when the company shipped its 500th large format 3D printer — in just three years.

The current generation of large format 3D printers, the WorkSeries, is the 5th generation machine to be sold by the company. Unlike the previous generation machines in the 3DP1000 and WorkBench families, the WorkSeries is actually a family of machines. “During 2016 and into 2017, our customer base was pulling us in two different directions,” commented Jonathan Schroeder, President of 3D Platform. “We had part of our customer base saying that they needed large format, but at a lower price point; and a second segment asking for more performance.”

3D Platform spent a considerable amount of time engineering a solution that would work for as many customers as possible and the WorkSeries is that result. The WorkSeries has four base models (WorkTable, WorkBench Classic, WorkBench Pro and Workbench Xtreme) and then several options and upgrades depending on the specific needs of the customer. Starting at 0.5 m3 of print volume and increasing up to 1.05 m3 with the WorkBench Xtreme, 3D Platform sells some of the largest FFF-style 3D printers on the market today.

“One of the biggest keys to the WorkSeries family is that we get to have a conversation with our customers about their needs. We can then choose from one of the 70+ available configurations that are best suited to match their needs,” explained John Good, VP Sales & Marketing for 3D Platform.

“With price points starting under $15,000 [USD] and a fully loaded version of the largest machine barely reaching $70k, we are uniquely suited to help customers maximize their ROI by keeping the initial acquisition cost low and combining that with low operating costs.” Customers are certainly agreeing with 3DP’s new machines with the 500th machine shipping earlier this month.

“We are fortunate to have partnered with a first-class global reseller and Certified Service Provider [CSP] network. They are factory trained, provide machine install services, and help support our customers around the world,” stated Mark Huebner, Market Development Manager for 3D Platform. “This global network has developed applications and customers on every continent north of Antarctica.”

3DP takes customer satisfaction and service very seriously, and has trained more than 30 technicians globally to become CSP’s. Mark continued, “3DP’s commitment to our customers has led to a very loyal customer base with many them coming back to purchase another printer. We have multiple customers who own 3D Platform 6402 East Rockton Road Roscoe, Illinois 61073 USA pg. 2 of 2 more than 5 printers! They will use them not only for prototyping, but deploy them in production support capacities.”
