3D LifePrints closes £1.2 investment funding round to expand medical 3D printing business

The world of 3D printing doesn’t stop. In fact, if anything, it has accelerated. 3D LifePrints UK Ltd, one of the UK’s leading medical 3D printing organizations, has recently closed an investment round of £1.2M led by Fenwall Investments. The investment will be used to rapidly expand 3D LifePrints’ existing foothold in the UK’s medical sector and overseas and follows on from previous investment in 2017 and 2018.

Even at a time when COVID-19 is taking up most of the attention in the media, healthcare institutions still have to deal with day-to-day medical emergencies as well. 3D LifePrints provides medical 3D printing design, manufacturing and service capabilities for key hospitals, research institutions, and medical device manufacturers. The services are provided from embedded 3D printing facilities “Hubs” within hospitals and aim to reduce operational costs and enhance patient care. 3D LifePrints’ products include a full range of patient-specific devices including; anatomical models, surgical cutting guides and titanium implants for Cranio-maxillofacial surgery.

3D LifePrints investment“We are extremely pleased to announce the completion of this funding round with investment from Fenwall Investments and a number of individual investors, and will continue to develop our unique business model of providing embedded 3D medical printing services in order to drive down operational costs, provide innovative 3D technology-based products and services, and ultimately improve patient care,” said Paul Fotheringham, Founder and CTO for 3D LifePrints.

Specifically, the investment will be used by 3D LifePrints to expand from their current bases in Liverpool at Alder Hey Hospital, in Oxford at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and near Wigan at Wrightington Hospital. New Hubs are targeted for London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds as well as in the USA and mainland Europe.

Dr. Andrew Douglas, Managing Director of Fenwall Investments Ltd said “We’re delighted to be on board with this talented team operating in an emerging and fast-developing market. We feel the timing is perfect to allow 3D LifePrints to capitalize on its potential. I’m looking forward to an exciting and profitable partnership.”
