3D Bioprinting Solutions (3D Bio) a leading laboratory for biotechnological research based in Skolkovo, Russia, and the medical company Invitro, with the support of the Roscosmos State Corporation, are holding a contest to name the lab’s first space-based magnetic bioprinter. The contest, titled: “A name that will be heard by the stars” is being held from May 14th through August 1st, 2017.

Working with Invitro as its main investor,3D Bioprinting Solutions will introduce its experimental space 3D bioprinter that, pursuant to an agreement with the United Rocket and Space Corporation, will be put on board of the International Space Station to print live tissues in a microgravity environment.

The bioprinter, which will become the first Russian machine of its kind in space, does not have a name so far, so the contestants’ task is to come up with the name. For space aficionados, this is a chance to become a part of the national astronautics history and to fully express their creativity, as the terms of the contest do not impose any special requirements regarding the name. Anyone can take part in the contest, including children over the age of seven as well as their parents.

Participants must (no later than August 1, 2017) send their application form to your, with the suggested name for the bioprinter along with your contact information: first and last name, date of birth, phone number, and email address. Only one suggested name per each contestant. For the detailed terms of the contest please visit to or to .

By September 30, 2017, 3D Bioprinting Solutions will choose the three best names and after that will announce the winner at a special press-conference. The winners will receive special space awards from the contest organizers.
